The Brazilian technology solution now has an established presence in eight countries

The Brazilian platform HMSWeb© has reached an unprecedented milestone: 52 simultaneously active projects, spread across nine countries and serving some of the largest players in the oil and gas, mining, energy, and steel sectors. For Luciano Gaete, CEO of HMSWeb Tecnologia da Informação and CIO of Forship Group, the number represents more than just scale.

“This milestone demonstrates the trust our clients place in HMSWeb,” he states, noting that the platform operates “across different geographies, languages, cultures, and execution methodologies, while maintaining the same standard of performance, safety, and traceability.”

International presence

The projects currently active are spread across Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, Canada, Mexico, Oman, Malaysia, and Liberia, serving clients such as Vale, Techint, MISC, Siemens, Suzano, Bracell, WestRock, Toyo Setal, Afry, LD Celulose, Samarco, Braskem, Cargill, ADM, and ArcelorMittal.

“I believe HMSWeb is the only one with such a diverse track record. This demonstrates, in practice, HMSWeb’s flexibility, robustness, and ability to adapt to projects of different sizes, complexities, and industrial segments,” he observes.

Continuous evolution

Conceived and initially developed back in Forship’s early days, in 1998, HMSWeb© has evolved over the past 19 years from an internal, proprietary tool into a commercial product. “HMSWeb was created to solve a specific problem: organizing and controlling one of the most critical moments in an industrial project’s lifecycle,” he explains.

Over time, the solution moved beyond being just a commissioning tool and became an important link integrating the entire EPC cycle — from engineering to assisted operation. “The natural evolution was to transform HMSWeb into a platform capable of integrating planning, engineering, construction, quality, mechanical completion, pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, and assisted operation,” the executive emphasizes.

Recent areas of development

• Mobility – HMSMobile© allows field teams to carry out and record activities directly on tablets and mobile devices.
• Integration – expanding this capability by connecting the platform to engineering, documentation, ERP, and BI systems, as well as BIM/3D and 4D models.
• Analytics – advancing the management view, with dashboards and analytical resources that turn large volumes of operational data into executive-level insights.

Full integration

Gaete recalls the case of Techint, which has used HMSWeb since the early stages of its projects to track process integration throughout the entire EPC cycle.

“Today, clients are looking for visibility from the earliest phases of engineering all the way through plant start-up, with integrated information, full traceability, mobility, automation, productivity gains, and reliable indicators to support decision-making,” he points out.

Forship Group’s vision is to further expand the platform’s role within the digital ecosystem of industrial projects. Technologies such as artificial intelligence and automation are also expected to drive the evolution of the HMS suite.
